MSAD27 Names Mr. Anderson the new Dean of Students at FKES

During the regular school board meeting on April 5, 2021, the MSAD27 board of directors accepted the nomination of Mr. Kevin Anderson as the next Dean of Students for Fort Kent Elementary School, effective July 1, 2021.  This comes after long-time administrator and dedicated team member Mr. Paul Michaud announced last month that he will be retiring at the end of this school year after a successful career in public education.

"I'm extremely excited to get to work with Mr. Anderson on exploring ways we can continue to improve on the work that Mr. Michaud has started with respect to climate and culture at FKES.  We have an amazing team that will only be strengthened by having Mr. Anderson join us this summer," said FKES Principal, Mr. Robby Nadeau.  Mr. Anderson will be working closely with Mr. Michaud and Mr. Nadeau to transition slowly into the new role by spending time at FKES throughout this spring, getting to know the staff, the students, and familiarizing himself with the FKES facility, which is where he began his teaching career, 14 years ago.

MSAD27 has successfully implemented the role of Dean of Students at Fort Kent Community High School/Valley Rivers Middle School several years ago when Mr. Steve Doucette was named the first Dean of Students in the district.  Moving from a Vice Principal to a Dean is part of the district Vision where our team has worked to transformed the role of the school disciplinarian, moving to a more student-centered approach, looking at ways to restore relationships as an alternative to traditional forms of student discipline.  This part of our work to make our schools a safe learning environment, not only in academics, but also in behavior management and social/emotional learning.

Welcome (back) to the FKES team Mr. Anderson!
