MSAD27 Announces the next Principal of Community High School and Valley Rivers Middle School

During the 930th board meeting of the Maine School Administrative District No. 27 Board of Directors on Monday, January 22, 2024, the board approved a transfer request from Mr. Steve Doucette, Dean of Students at CHS/VRMS, to become the next Principal of the schools on July 1, 2024 after the retirement of Mr. John Kaleta. Steve Doucette has been an educator in MSAD27 since 2007, teaching science at Community High School. He later went on to become the Dean of Students in 2018, a position he's held since that time. Mr. Doucette's success in this role is attributed to his amazing ability to work respectfully with students while communicating effectively with stakeholders in the process. MSAD27 Schools on a Delayed Start - Wednesday, May 8, 2024

5:30am: Due to an ongoing incident on Pleasant Street involving a firearm, which is currently contained by the FKPD, all MSAD27 schools are on a one-hour delay. We are asking all students and staff to stay away from the MSAD27 schools at this time. We will update you over the next several hours as we learn more. 6:53am update: MSAD27 schools are now on a two hour delay. More updates to come. 8:00am update: MSAD27 schools will resume at 10:00am. The issue on Pleasant Street has been resolved. Staff may report to work at this time. Thank you for your patience and support this morning.

2024-25 School Calendar

For the first time since Valley Unified has been formed, all Valley Unified Schools will be following the exact school calendar, which has a start date for all PreK-12 students on August 21, 2024 and includes a 2-week harvest break for all schools and all students.
