MSAD27 Approves Early Childhood Changes to Support Early Intervention

Following a survey of current, past, and future parents of early childhood learners attending Fort Kent Elementary School, the MSAD27 Board of Directors has unanimously voted to support a change to 1/2 day programming, 4 days a week.  Additionally, the board supported adding a 5th day for targeted interventions for those learners who qualify.  We will be in communication with the parents of incoming early childhood students about how this new schedule will work, including commute times and other important information.

Although we know that this change will be a challenge for some families with regards to child care and scheduling, we remain committed to improving the education experience. Like any new change, we will monitor this change closely with careful focus on the educational impact for our learners as they leave the early childhood program and enter Kindergarten.

We thank those who participated in the survey and for supporting this change.
