Pilot School Priority List Places MSAD27, MSAD33, and Madawaska Schools in First Place

The State Board of Education met today for their February business meeting.  During that meeting, the Integrated, Consolidated 9-16 Educational Facility proposed priority list (the list for the new regional pilot high school) was released to the board.  This list included all 7 of the original applicants and their point totals.  Coming in with the highest point total was the application submitted by MSAD27, MSAD33, and Madawaska Schools!
Although this is wonderful news, please understand that this is not yet the final step in the process.   Moving from this announcement, begins the 30-day review process allows for each applicant to look over the process for any errors that they feel may have been made with the point totals.  If an applicant finds an issue with their points, they must submit the appeal to the Department of Education within the 30-day review period.

At the end of the 30-day review period, the commissioner has 30 days to go over any appeals that may have been submitted and to finalize the “commissioner’s approved list” to bring back to the State Board of Education. Once the State Board of Education approves the commissioner’s approved list, a determination will be made concerning which projects on the list will get funded. This may be just the highest point recipient, or it may be several.

If the list remains unchanged, and our Tri-District area remains first place, we are guaranteed the award of a 100% fully funded new regional high school, which is sure to enhance educational opportunities for our area students and to strengthen collaboration with our member communities.  These are exciting times in education for the St. John Valley!
