During the regular school board meeting on Monday, February 5, 2018, the Maine School Administrative District No. 27 Board of Directors unanimously accepted the nomination of Steve Doucette as the new Dean of Students for Community High and Valley Rivers Middle Schools effective on February 26, 2018. Doucette is in his 17th year in education, most currently as a life science teacher at CHS. He replaces Mr. Ralph Caron, who has accepted a position in the Lake Region Vocational Center in Naples, Maine. The CHS science department will make some adjustments to absorb some of Doucette's teaching responsibilities and a new math and science teaching position has been posted so that all courses are covered.
As the Dean of Students, Mr. Doucette will work closely with Principal John Kaleta, focusing on the following primary responsibilities:
- Student Behavior Management
- Attendance and Truancy
- Student Activities and Events
- Student Safety and Guidance
- Family and Community Engagement
